Dana Dobbs, DVM

Dr Dobbs is a central Washington field veterinarian and serves as the Avian Health Lead for the Washington State Department of Agriculture. She’s been with the Animal Services Division since 2010 and was actively involved in the 2014/2015 avian influenza outbreak, as well as the current one. Dr. Dobbs oversees Washington State’s National Poultry Improvement Program (NPIP), which includes multiple backyard flocks and nine commercial poultry producers. Dr. Dobbs obtained her Bachelor of Science degrees in Microbiology and Animal Sciences from Washington State University, and was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in the Army Reserves through their ROTC program. Several years later, in 2006, she obtained her DVM degree from Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine. Dr. Dobbs retired in 2016 as a Lieutenant Colonel from the US Army Reserves after three commands, several humanitarian missions, and deployments as a veterinarian to Kosovo and Afghanistan. She looks forward to several more years with WSDA and serving a wide variety of feathered and four legged friends!
