Tanya Donovan, DVM, DACVIM (Internal Medicine)

Dr. Donovan is a board certified specialist in small animal internal medicine. She received her degree in veterinary medicine at Tufts University in 2004. Having a strong interest in the pursuit of an internal medicine residency, she entered and completed a one year internship in small animal medicine and surgery at Angel Memorial Animal Hospital in Boston, Massachusetts. The completion of her internship leads to acceptance into a residency program in small animal internal medicine and a return to Tufts University. In 2008, Dr. Donovan completed her residency and passed the certification to become board certified in internal medicine.

Following the completion of her residency, Dr. Donovan worked as a clinical professor until 2010 at Auburn University. Since her academic appointment she has been in private practice in Seattle, WA, Burlington, VT and Portland, OR.

Topics include:

  • The Gut, the Bad, and the Ugly Chronic Enteropathies: We will overview the gastrointestinal tract with a focus on the immune system and discuss treatments including dietary management, medications, and alternative therapies as well as a discussion on canine breed specific enteropathies.
  • Urinary Tract Nutraceuticals Nutraceuticals and urinary tract disorders: We will overview nutraceuticals in general and discuss their use in animals with chronic urinary tract infections and urinary incontinence with a focus on the data that supports or refutes their use.
  • Diet and Supplements in Chronic Renal Insufficiency: We will review the current diets and supplements for cats and dogs with Chronic Renal Insufficiency.
